PINEWOOD DERBY

January 18, 2008
1 PM @ Holy Family Church

In case you didn't hear the story, the reason we had to cancel the Derby on the fourth was because bingo was also booked on that day. Heather had obtained the basement of the church in August and then called two weeks before we were supposed to have the derby to make sure we were still ok. Unfortunately, an error was made, and since we couldn't find a place at the last minute to have our derby, we had to reschedule. I am sure I have not been the only one inconveinenced by this, but I hope we can still pull off a good derby for the boys. Thank all of you who have volunteered. Here is the list and the job you decided to help with:

SET UP - Keith Todd
GREETER - Natalie
REGISTRATION - Nogy
CONCESSION STAND - Lowther
CONCESSION STAND - Nancy Molovich
ENFORCER - Roebuck and Ball
CLEAN UP - George Molovich

Den Restructuring

If you miss a meeting, please make sure to catch up with the boys in school or give Eli or Nathaniel a call to find out what you missed. The den has been restructured, and each boy has a part to uphold to keep the den running smoothly.

DENNER - Nathaniel Roebuck
The Denner leads the meeting with the den leader and the 2nd Denner. He keeps the meeting on schedule by following the meeting agenda.

2nd DENNER - Brandon Molovich
Takes on the Denner responsibilities when the Denner is absent. When the Denner is present, the 2nd Denner helps him lead the meetings.

SERGEANT AT ARMS - Elijah Ball
The Sergeant At Arms is the order keeper. He will do his best to keep the scouts on task. He will make sure that all scouts have signed the den rules and has a copy of the rules in his binder. He will also develop a system of reward and punishment for scouts who do not follow den rules.

COMPUTER TECH - Alex Nogy
The computer tech is in charge of doing web searches, printing documents, and preparing documents. He is also responsible for helping other scouts with creating their documents.

SECRETARY - Arik Lowther
The secretary will record all important information during the meetings. The secretary also makes sure that each boy has all of the handouts that have been given out.

TREASURER - Benjamin Todd
The treasurer is responsible for collecting dues, keeping attendance, recording who is current with their dues, and recording who still needs to pay. He will announce the total funds of the den at each meeting, and will keep track of how much money was spent. He will also help the den decide if the group has enough money to buy supplies for the next meeting or if each boy needs to bring more money or their own supplies.

Saturday, November 22, 2008

On Saturday, November 22, 2008, Lowe’s has a Build and Grow Clinic, and they are building a football goal game. If you want to attend with your son, I need to know by tomorrow or you can go to https://www.lowesbuildandgrow.com/ to sign up. By going, it will complete one of the requirements for the Craftsman Activity Badge. I will not be there.

On Saturday, November 22, 2008, from 6PM - 9PM, we are having a meeting at our house where the boys will play a survival skills game, and we will learn how to tie knots. You are welcome to bring a snack or drink for the boys to enjoy.

Webelos Scouts

Hello All!
I’m sorry I haven’t been in touch - my grams passed away, then the kids were really sick, and then we had to get ready for our annual neighborhood Halloween party that we host . . . Crazy!

The Scouts are working on their Webelos Badge this year. Some of the boys have earned their Traveler’s and Citizen’s Badges, but there is some work that the scouts need to do at home.

1. All new scouts have to complete the Bobcat Badge before he can earn his Webelos Badge. The requirements are on page 42 of the Webelos Handbook. Parents, please sign on the “Approved By” lines and your son can let me know when he has completed all of the Bobcat requirements.

2. All parents please read the Webelos Scout Parent Guide on pp. 1-22 of the Webelos Handbook and sign off on page 49.

3. Scouts will complete pp. 50 & 51 as individuals. The person who works with your scout can sign his book as he completes the requirements. Since I would like to present the Webelos Badge @ the Blue and Gold Banquet in March, the Faith Requirement has to be completed by February.

Scouts - - --
Please remember to bring your books, binders and dues to the meetings.

Parents - - - -
Can someone please help me with the Craftsman Requirements? The craftsman meeting dates are November 10th, November 17th, and December 14th.

Thank you all for your patience, and don’t worry, I will make sure the boys get all of their requirements in.
